Privacy Policy

The short version: Scout has no accounts, doesn't track you, and doesn't sell your data. Your trips stay on your device, and Scout only uses your location if give permission to.
What Scout collects
Scout has no user accounts and does not collect your name, email address, or other personally identifiable information. Trip details you enter — like your origin and destination — are stored locally on your device and are never transmitted to us. See Location below for how Scout handles your device's location.
Subscriptions
Scout uses RevenueCat to manage in-app subscriptions. RevenueCat may process limited transactional information (such as purchase receipts) to verify your subscription status. This is handled directly between your device, Apple, and RevenueCat. Scout does not see or store your payment details.

Weather data
Scout uses Apple WeatherKit for weather conditions and alerts along your route.
Location
You can build a trip by typing your origin and destination, or by tapping "Use my current location" to set your starting point. When you tap that button, Scout accesses your device's location a single time to determine where you are.
Scout requests location access only while you are using the app, only when you tap "Use my current location," and never in the background. It does not track your location continuously or access it automatically.
To calculate your route and its forecast, the locations in your trip — including a starting point set from your current location — are sent to Apple Maps and Apple WeatherKit. They are never transmitted to us, and Scout does not sell your location or share it for advertising.
No accounts, no tracking
Scout does not require you to create an account. We do not use advertising trackers, analytics SDKs, or any third-party tools that monitor how you use the app.
Children's privacy
Scout is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect any information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we make meaningful changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Scout after any changes means you accept the updated policy.
